When you’re traveling with your family, anything can happen.
Anything did happen to us in 2012. And during the next week, every member of our family will be sharing his or her favorite memories of the year. I hope you’ll join us.
So fasten your seatbelts. Here are a few of my 2012 highlights.
Best views. The most breathtaking vistas of 2012 were in Utah and western Colorado. You can get a feel for it in this video.
Best fish. Hey, I told you these categories were a little unexpected. I loved seeing the Monterey and Atlanta aquariums. Here are a few clips.
Best cruise. The Disney Fantasy, of course. OK, it was our only cruise. But wow, what an incredible experience.
Best oysters. Those were the ones we found on Florida’s “forgotten” coast last January.
For me, 2012 meant keeping a promise I made to my kids the year before, that I would spend more time with them. And we did. We logged many hours in our Hertz rental cars, and getting to know every inch of our vacation rentals or Holiday Inn Resort rooms. What an amazing experience.
It’s been great having all my friends come along for the ride. You were always there to support us, to offer words of wisdom and advice on our Facebook page and Twitter and here in the comments section.
Thank you! Without you, this trip wouldn’t have been possible.
And kids, you should know that even on the worst days — when it was raining, we got lost and we came within a few miles of running out of fuel — were better than the best day I’ve spent in an office. I’m a better person because of the time we spent together in 2012.
And 2013 is going to be even better … you’ll see.
