Georgia State Railroad Museum

One of our favorite stops in Savannah is the Georgia State Railroad Museum. Among the beautifully restored engines, cars and cabooses on display in the open air roundhouse you’ll find a refrigerator car with horse-hair insulation, an elegant office car with sheer curtains and wide windows as well as the oldest remaining Georgia made steam engine.

For more history about the area just look across Louisville Road. The former passenger station of the Central of Georgia Railroad and Canal Co. currently houses the Savannah History Museum.
