Black Friday shopping with kids

We did the unthinkable yesterday. We dragged the kids Black Friday shopping.

After sleeping through the alarm that we set for 11:30 p.m. so Aren and I could hit the Target midnight promotions, I was awakened with the promise of real coffee closer to 7 a.m.

Starting this late meant there was no rush so we did some fast research and decided we’d get the best deals using my Simon Malls VIP status and struck out for Orlando Premium Outlets.

If you go to their malls regularly, download the app. It will give you fast access to a map, but best of all it has a parking reminder (which you can use anywhere).

The parking reminder includes both picture and GPS, because when you’re parked in a garage the GPS position is close to useless.

Yes there was traffic, but there was plenty of parking in the free garages (more on that later).

As we moved from store to store along the outdoor complex, Erysse would occasionally point something out and say “Tell Santa I like that.” Iden would ask us to buy things, pointing out the great price, but would relent with a replied, “I’ll just ask Santa.”

Aren took things into his own hands and downloaded the Letters to Santa Clause app on his phone.

Orlando Premium Outlets is pretty spread out. It took about an hour and a half to walk past every store and grab lunch. We spend most of our time in Toys R Us and Disney’s Character Premiere.

Well, that’s not true. We spent most of our time parking and exiting. But that’s all part of Black Friday shopping, right?
