After two weeks off the road trip the kids are ready to have some family fun. With Kissimmee as this family trip’s headquarters, we are both close to home and in the epicenter of family friendly activity centers.
While in Kissimmee, we’ll be visiting family favorites, like Old Town, Downtown Disney and maybe even Gatorland. But we’ll also take advantage of this area’s rustic past, heading out to Boggy Creek Airboat Rides and the KSA Rodeo before this leg of the road trip is through.

Oh, and we’ll make a stop at our favorite cookie company, Breck’s Gourmet Cookies, just off Broadway in downtown Kissimmee. We like to grab them to go and gobble them up at Kissimmee Lakefront Park nearby. It has a nice playground park for the kids and a lakefront-walking path with that’s just long enough to get the wiggles out.
And you may note that this week is Thanksgiving, traditionally a time for family bonding and togetherness. Well, if you cannot be with the ones you love, love the vacation rental you’re in. We’re staying in a beautiful five-bedroom vacation home in a private community with an amazing kitchen, outdoor grill and swimming pool. No grilling for Thanksgiving, though. We’re a strict turkey and gravy kind of family.
And you can bet I’ll be up at 4 a.m. Friday preparing to take advantage of some Black Friday deals. Thinking Mall at Millenia or Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores.
