The week ahead: Anna Maria Island — and more

Well, it’s time to hit the road again. Our next stop is in Anna Maria Island.

We love the gentle waves and long flat shallows on the Gulf Coast. Even Erysse will get into the water! A cozy cottage near the beach will offer plenty of room to play and set up for lessons.

The kids have been working so hard at school that they’ll have some extra free time once we arrive. Erysse is perfecting her E, H and T while Aren is working on writing in long form. There is even a spooky movie the boys are working on together.

Chris has rediscovered Yelp! which has been a lot of fun so far. Our current debate is if it renders all others, like Facebook and FourSquare, redundant.

But before we make any check-ins, we wanted to share our itinerary this visit. Let us know if you’ve done any of these activities and if you have other favorites we shouldn’t miss.

Anna Maria Historic Green Village
Native Rental Kayak Tour of Estuary
Horse Surfing experience with Great World Adventures
South Florida Museum
Village of the Arts artists colony
Mixon Fruit Farms
The Heavy Equipment Experience at People at Play
Cortez Fishing Village
Hunsader Farms

We also hear there are some great places to eat. I’m craving the fish sandwich at Star Fish Company Market & Restaurant in Cortez. If there’s a place you like, let me know. Otherwise we’ll be left home cooking at our cottage.
