We’re @: Put-In-Bay, South Bass Island, Ohio
What’s here: Perry’s Victory and International Peace Monument, commemorating the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812 and to celebrate the long-lasting peace between Britain, Canada and America. At 352 feet, it is the third tallest national monument in the U.S. and the world’s most massive Doric column.
We’ll never forget: Staying at The Dellwood, a privately-owned, meticulously-restored 1897 mansion on the north side of the island.
Our favorite moment: Being human landing strips for butterflies at the Butterfly House at Perry’s Cave Family Fun Center
Strangest site: Now that’s a houseboat!
Lucky moment: We were the last vehicle on the 10 a.m. ferry. Thanks Miller Boat Line for squeezing us on.
Native options: You can order a wall-eye wrap or perch tacos at the Goat Whiskey and Soup restaurant.
